Christian Amato is

a proud Democrat, the proud son of Italian immigrants, and a lifelong resident of the Bronx.

As a first-generation Bronxite, Christian has never stopped fighting for the community he calls home.

Christian’s family came to this country searching for a brighter future, like so many immigrant families who live here. His grandfather opened up a dry cleaner on Arthur Avenue. That’s where his parents met and fell in love. After they married, they opened up their own dry cleaner on Arthur Avenue.

Christian’s parents raised him and his brother in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx.

He went to Hudson Country Montessori, attended Saint Clare’s elementary, where he was an Altar Server, and played on Van Nest Little League. Christian went to Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains and graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Christian Amato is deeply rooted in his community as a community advocate, organizer, and Democratic strategist. He is the Founder and CEO of Consense Strategies. Christian has been an active local leader, serving as a board member and Co-Chair of Transportation on Community Board 11, Bronx. He is also an executive member of Liberty Democratic Club and the Pelham Parkway Neighborhood Association.

Christian has worked across the Bronx and Westchester to build awareness for Democratic candidates and causes, fighting for fair and equitable representation and elevating women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community into leadership positions.

Christian worked in the New York State Senate, serving as Deputy Chief of Staff and District Director for the State Senate. Christian has trained with Organizing For Action(OFA) and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee as a community organizer. He has worked on several campaigns in New York and across the country. Through OFA, he also mentored and trained dozens of up-and-coming organizers in the state of New York. Amato organized to connect immigrants to critical DACA initiatives, helped organize against the Independent Democratic Conference, and managed the campaign to End Medical Debt in New York State.

During the Pandemic, Christian formed a mutual aid network to provide for our communities in and out of the district. He developed a community food program, delivering over 500,000 pounds of fresh produce to combat the growing food insecurity. When our communities were left behind from the Covid recovery, he organized to distribute over one million masks and hand sanitizers across the Bronx and Westchester.

In 2022, Christian ran for New York State Senate in the newly drawn 34th District to represent his home communities in the Bronx and Westchester. Christian ran a successful petitioning effort, making it on the ballot with over 2,500 signatures. After navigating three redistricting maps, Christian came in second place with 30% of the vote and over 20 endorsements from Local 28 Sheet Metal Workers, IATSE Local 1, DRUM Beats, League of Independent Theatre, StreetsPAC, Voters for Animal Rights, Progressive Women of Pelham, Progressive Women of New York, Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, Italian American Political Action Committee, No IDC NY, Liberty Democratic Association, The League of Humane Voters, American Youth for Climate Action; Pelham Village Trustees Hanan Eldahry and Kim McGreal; Pelham District Leaders Denise Boyle-Quatroni, Toby Marxuach-Gusciora, and Moneeka Zaman. Christian continued his mutual aid effort during his campaign, delivering over 7,500 meals.

Christian Amato believes that New Yorkers deserve community-centered leadership and that when our communities unite, we rise together.
