Harris-Walz Ticket: Aiming for Key Battleground States

After much deliberation over the weekend, Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Walz’s background includes teaching high school social studies, coaching football, and serving 24 years in the Army National Guard, reaching the rank of command sergeant major. Walz’s selection has sparked strong reactions. Former President Trump called him “dangerously liberal” and predicted financial ruin and compromised border security. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized the ticket as “the most left-wing in American history” and faulted Walz’s handling of the 2020 Minnesota protests.

Despite these criticisms, Walz’s practical communication style and midwestern charm make him a strong running mate for Kamala Harris.
